Our services in the CNG refueling stations sector range from consulting (including the analysis of potentials), site planning, engineering, manufacturing, delivery and installation to commissioning of the complete CNG refueling station. It goes without saying that, as a one-stop shop, we also take care of all pipework and civil engineering work. Even after commissioning, our maintenance and service team ensures trouble-free operation of your CNG facility.

Thanks to different refueling techniques, implemented according to your requirements, continuous refueling times at maximum availability are guaranteed at all times.

For CNG storage, we offer a choice of options and are thus able to select an optimum solution for your specifications: Storage cylinders, storage tubes, dynamic  dynagas  (Schandl GmbH trademark) accumulators and booster systems are available.

We also produce mobile CNG refueling stations to be used wherever no direct connection to the gas and electricity grid is available.

Mobile CNG Fueling Station Facility Description

A mobile CNG fueling station mainly consists of: piston-type accumulators, a hydraulic unit, a gas engine, dispensers, air conditioning, and an EI&C engineering unit. All these assemblies are accommodated in a 20 ft. container which, in turn, is subdivided into individual rooms. Functional description The externally supplied natural gas must have an admission pressure between 25 and 250 bar(a) Initially, this gas is needed for operating the gas engine. The gas engine generates the necessary electric power for the operation of the overall facility. Further, it drives the hydraulic pump which, in turn, is required to compress the gas in the piston-type accumulators. In these piston-type accumulators, the gas is compressed to a pressure of approx. 230 bar. As natural gas becomes hot during compression, it needs to be cooled by a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is connected to an air conditioning unit. This unit is further used for cooling the air in the individual rooms. After the natural gas has cooled down, it can be delivered to the end user via one of the two dispensers. It is possible to operate both dispensers simultaneously.

Compressor Technology

By default, a hydraulically driven compressor (hydro mechanics) is used. It features very moderate piston speeds and accordingly has only few moving parts. There is no single rotating part inside the entire compressor. The solid, logical, and simple structure of the compressor ensures high maintainability and easy servicing. What is more, its construction allows processing of gases with very high pressure variations—without the need for pressure regulation and reduction. Such compressors were developed for the use in CNG refueling stations and have been employed for more than 30 years all over the world. These water-cooled machines always operate with the same reliability, be it in northern regions such as Helsinki or under partly tropical conditions, e.g. in India, Brazil, and Argentina

The  dynagas  Principle

Compressed natural gas is kept ready in a dynamic storage vessel which consists of a gas compartment and an oil compartment, separated by a piston. During the fueling process, oil is supplied to the filled gas compartment, thereby delivering the stored CNG to the pump. The identical pressure conditions in the oil and gas compartments guarantee continuous fueling times with a constant final pressure regardless of the number of vehicles refueled successively. The dynagas storage principle enables you to leverage 100% of the available storage volume. This is also an ideal solution for mobile use, e.g. as a "virtual" fueling station.
